Hello, My name is Vic Sorensen. I'm a steelhead bum whose home rivers are mainly the
Skykomish, Sauk and Skagit, in Washington State. I enjoy taking trips to the Grand Ron,
Deschutes and rivers of the Olympic Peninsula. I dream of fishing the Babine in Canada,
catching Atlantic Salmon somewhere on the east coast and exploring Chile's fiords for
searun rainbows.
I make my living guiding in southwest Alaska, near Dillingham for Mission Lodge through the months of June through September. There we fish for King, Chum, Pink and Silver salmon as the season provides. My personal favorite is fishing for the elusive rainbow. These Rainbows act somewhat like Steelhead. They live in the lakes even though they have a straight shot at the ocean and choose to run the rivers to feed on fry in the spring and eggs in the fall. At the same time our friends the bears share the same hunger for fish in many of the same locations we fish at. In the past I have also guided in Southwest Montana. We fished the Madison, Big Holle, Beaverhead and Ruby rivers. During the months of November through April, I guide for Southern Chile Expeditions in the country of Chile. There we fish for Rainbows and Brown Trout. My home residence is in a little town in Washington state named Snohomish. It's about 30 miles north of Seattle, located in the heart of some great steelhead territory. It also happens to be a great area if you like Micro Brew beers and Single Malt Scotches. The Ale Houses of the area with distinctive Pacific Northwest ale seem to attract fishermen of all types. My purpose for creating this web site is to involve fly fishermen that would enjoy sharing photos, joining me at an alehouse to tie flies and generally share in the sport of flyfishing for Steelhead. Well let's not exclude Salmon, they're fun too. I and my buddies try to get together usually on Monday nights to tie flies at a local ale house. If you are interested in sharing a pattern or learning a new one, oh yea- and to drink fine ales, check our newsflash section for the next tying night. It's open to all interested in tying Steelhead flies. Keep in mind, I'm not looking for highliners just the type of fishermen I'd find on the river. Get involved, I can't do this alone, I need people to make this work. You can reach me at vic@flyfishingsteelhead.com Thank you, Vic Sorensen |
